First rains in mumbai................ (finallly, phew!!!)

Well after enduring the searing heat in most of the month of May there arives some relief in the form of rains (finally!!!) ....... A welcome change, i must say......

I guess Rain Gods have finally had mercy on us humans......

Most of May has been like very sweaty. My sweat glands were like working overtime for me...... Sadly,Engineering colleges are open at this time of the year..... I go to my college in this heat wave and when i finally get there (not to mention criss-crossing the mad traffic of mumbai in a BEST bus)... i get fully drenched in sweat.. Plus the fans in our college are like soo slow that i consider it almost imaginary (ALAS!!! few hours of getting fried)..... So no relief here..... Its like a furnace outside........

The moment i enter my college, i begin thinking of when i would be returning home (fans are much better at my place , :D)......

Atlast rains have arrived and with it comes the cool breeze thats almost as cool as a a refrigerator...... The moment i smelled the sweet smell of rains i almost jumped with joy and begin thinking of more cool days ahead (Atleast for some days)....

There were time when i didnt like of the sound of thunder, thinking there would be more floods.... hehe the bright side of it was that schools and colleges would be cancelled for a day... :D..... but now the sound is like a sweet melody which i would like to hear everyday.... believe me guys the situation is that serious ..... I guess people living in mumbai could justify that.... Man!!!! Curse this Global warming.... I hope mankind finds a solution fast to counter the growing heat wave or i guess "Day after tomorrow " situation is not too far away...

Ok coming back to rains......
Its been raining in mumbai since evening and rains have never seemed so pleasant to me as it is now...
I hope BMC has better preparations this time .... Having said the last sentence it'll be almost astonishing and surprising to see BMC actually well prepared.... This is because most of the roads near my place are like viciously dug up and left the way it is... Not to mention i stay near milan subway, the most flood prone area in whole of mumbai..... There has never been a time when milan subway wasnt filled up with water to create a ephemeral or temporal swimming pool for kids living in slums...

Well its really cool to have these small rains and i hope it continues for sometime to make the weather more cooler...
And tomorrow it'll be all over the news headlines that rains have arrived with reporters asking their usual question "Aap ko kaisa lag raha hai" :D ... Its kinda funny if u ask me... I guess these news channels dont have nething else to ask.... and bombay times will have all the public personality to have a say about the rains (i wonder if there comments really matters)....

I hope people of mumbai will enjoy these rains .... I am sure they will........

A thought while reading a book.........

I have just finished reading a book called fish tales.... Its a book about how to have fun while working.... Its written in the form of a story , where a manager takes up a task of making a dull, boring department of a company where employees are grumpy and are often ridiculed by employees of the other dept. as "toxic energy dump" , and makes it the most energetic and fun place to work in with the help of some friends at a world famous fish market ofcourse ......

Its was while reading this book , that i got a thought ... There are times when people dont get the choice of their work.... people pay less attention to the work they find the most boring.. What if this mentality is changed .. What if they begin to enjoy the same work.. How will it effect their productivity.. One thing is for sure the results are gonna be positive.......... Entire book is based on just one fact "Love the work you do" ..... Its this feeling that makes your work enjoyable......

I'll take an example- for instance a project manager has a job of making a presentation and a report... If he likes the former job more than the report.... He'll concentrate all of his energy on making the presentation, having done very little about the report...... So what happens here .. His entire work would not be upto the mark... But what he finds a way to make that dull work full of fun... What if he realizes its importance, the end results would be mind blowing........

This is what is explained in the book.........
Its about choosing the right attitude ..... If we approach a task with grumpiness , the results will be the same, full of mistakes and errors ....... There are ofcourse external factors like suppose we have a fight with someone .... that has some effect on the work as well we approach it with the same kind of attitude... Its the attitude that is important while working... Why have a petty fight affect other works of our life.....

Every work u take upon in this lifetime is important ... It someway or the other affects us.... So enjoy everything you do ... and most importantly love it ........ Think about it...........
This is a part of what is called the "fish philosophy"..........

How to become an engineer - for dummies

Before i start i would like to say that this post is not for engineering loving people, so i recommend reader discretion........ :D

This is what i found out to be the definition of engineers on wikipedia ....
"An engineer is someone who is trained or professionally engaged in a branch of engineering. Engineers use creativity, technology, and scientific knowledge to solve practical problems. People who work as engineers normally have an academic degree (or equivalent work experience) in one of the engineering disciplines."

Now this is what i feel should be the actual definition of an engineer.......
"An engineer is someone who has studied from mumbai university and at the end always gets placed in an IT company, irrespective of his branch. Engineer uses neither his creativity , sometimes technology and always refers vidyalankar notes for scientific knowledge. At the end he somehow manages to get a degree."

As u enter an engineering college u'll have to cope up with few entities ....

1. Raggers : Well these are usually the so called bullies of an engineering college. They normally pick on the freshers of the college who usually ask them the way to canteen and end up doing weird things.

2. Gossipers : Well i really dont know whether this word exits or not, but this type are the gossip mongers of the college. They are usually chatter boxes making speculations about who is linked to whom.. Mostly girls are involved with this type :D.......(sorry just kidding... :D)

3. The Geeks : They are the nerds of the college... They usually look as if they have the entire world of syllabus to cover , will sit for every lecture... Library is their temple and reference books are their gods... They usually come in formals all the time and oil their hair and will wear thick glasses... U can easily recognize them...

4. Commoners : Well they are the majority in any college(for eg. me) .. Usually get average marks...

5 Teacher's Pet : Well every class has one... He/she usually will ask many questions to teachers just to impress them and the professors end up giving he/she good termwork.. entire class hates him/her......

NOTE : After u become a senior ull either stay a commoner or other entities...

The professors of the college are an obligatory entity, we have to bear them at any cost :D....

The devils of engineers........

1. Mechanics : Well this is first devil ull encounter..... No matter how hard u try no matter how much u study for once u get a kt .... ull feel the entire world is comin down..... Many ppl have fallen into the pits ... becoz of mechanics....(Acche accho ki vat lag gayi hai.)........

2. Professors : As said before they are the obligatory devils of engineering.....

3. Vivas : Well they are the worst of the devils .... perhaps after mechanics ;) ..... They usually work with an external entity called externals ..... Externals are basically evil creatures who are pissed off with life and want to trouble poor students by asking them weird questions..... No matter how much u read they somehow find a question which u think is not in the syllabus ... u will feel to smack the journal on his face and run out of the room :D.......

What is term work ?
Term work is extra marks we get for doing our college work... They totally depend on ur impression with the professors .... If they get pissed by u... sorry ul get less term work....

What is assignmets and writeups ? how do we complete them?
They are basically work given to an engineer.. becoz he has no other work to do.... They are completed by the sincere students ..(usually geeks) and all the other copy from them.... The raggers complete them at the last moment....

Your life is engineering basically revolves around friends , canteen and the nearest tapari (the nearest refreshment point from ur college)... They are your support when u feel bored and left out....... (read this blog) ......

As one of my friends wrote engineering is a 4 yr vacation....... He is damn right.......

spidey in hindi...........

Hey the other day on may 9th is saw spiderman 3 .... Well as I expected everything was good from visual effects to cinematography ... only thing was THIS WAS IN HINDI ...........

The story began, i was giving a presentation at my coll..... and my friends decided to watch a movie (after my ppt)... I suggested spiderman 3... they agreed..... I had a laptop with me so i told them ill go home and keep this laptop then come to the theater... By that time they wuld already have bought my ticket....
Our theater : Has always been our favourite since its the cheapest ... Gaitey Galaxy (Called G7)....

Well i reached at the last moment , after last moment of scrutinizing the crowd(thats wat i do first when in a movie theater ;) )........ I entered the movie theater .......... I was happy that finally i was seeing spiderman 3.... I dreamed of its amazing action sequences , its breathtaking visual effects , its ummm dialogs...
Dialogs did ne1 say about dialogs ..... ummm this is the main problem when a hollywood movie gets dubbed into hindi..... The dialogs that sound really awesome in english gets a really dumb like effects in hindi...... That was the same case with spiderman......

Well some of its dialogs the "rait ka danav" thats what they called sandman........ another one "tum toh miss india lag rahi ho" now why wuld that photgrapher tell gwen stacy miss india... she was in newyork not new delhi......

Oh Man!!!! later i came to know that the movie was in hindi... I seriously cursed my dimwit (sorry for that :D) friends to have called me from santacruz to bandra for spiderman 3 in hindi........
